Excalibur Max | Maxcalibur

Frontal View of Airplane wings which has a V shape is called dihedral and when there is a side wind affecting the aircraft it helps the aircraft to rebalance to its own position. It is like your aircraft both sides wingtips are tied up in a string and hanging. In Paper airplane when the plane is not levelling up to their straight line and loitering you have to make adjustments on their wing levels so it helps them maintain their straight path. Excalibur aka Maxcalibur is one of the good paper airplane designs from LND, it helps you understand paper airplane instruction through step by step illustrated demonstration. Two minutes for Noodles! isn’t it? Three minutes for Paper planes! It’s that simple with liftndrift*

Supplies Required:

  • A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 GSM
  • Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.

Step 1:

  • Keep the A4 sheet of paper in Portrait orientation and fold them from Left to Right equally as shown in Fig.1
  • UNFOLD them once done.

Step 2:

  • Now bring the Top Left-hand edge and Top Right-hand edge to the centre crease
  • Make sure you don’t cross the centre line

Step 3:

  • Bring the Nose down to the straight line – If the height from the bottom of the straight line matches the height of below the triangle (Refer Fig.3 “X” distance)
  • Once it matches fold them

Step 4:

  • Now, Bring the below-folded nose tip to Top section and match it with the straight line
  • Fold it once it matches and then UNFOLD

Step 5:

  • Bring the Top Right-hand edge and Top Left-hand edge to the centre crease line and fold it
  • Check Fig.5 to understand where they actually meet

Step 6:

  • Pull up the nose and make a lock using this technique (Where the dotted line acts as the centre of the fold)

Step 7:

  • Now, bring down the top section of Paper airplane to the Nose of the Previous fold and FOLD it
  • Refer Fig.7 for your doubts

Step 8:

  • Mountain fold the excalibur paper airplane into Half and check for their symmetry (Refer Fig.8)

Step 9:

  • Its the time for making the wing – The Length of the wing should match the length of the fuselage
  • Fold the Diagonal top section to the straight bottom section – Straight to straight and Fold it
  • Do the same for the other side too. Make sure the wings on both sides of Excalibur is symmetry

Step 10:

  • All Set for Sky high!
  • Find a peaceful place for studying your paper airplane!

Excalibur flying technique:

  • Hold the Plane behind the centre of the plane’s gravity centre
  • Keep your left foot slightly forward and launch it in 30 – 40 degrees angle, throw it steadily with a medium force. If it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again.
  • Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
