Locky Hawky

I asked my friend, how these planes are flying and he said, they have a kind of firework powder at their tail, once it is lit they fly like anything! I was at 3rd grade when I was asking this question. Fuel is mandatory but that doesn’t make an aircraft fly, their wings are designed in such a way when they move forward they can produce movement up! Okay, that’s cool. Let’s make Locky hawky paper airplane for now…

Two minutes for Noodles! isn’t it? Three minutes for Paper planes! It’s that simple with liftndrift*

Supplies Required:

  • A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 GSM
  • Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.

Step 1:

  • Take the A4 sheet and make a square paper out of it
  • Now, fold the square paper vertically and horizontally into half, Unfold.

Step 2:

  • Fold the top edge to the center crease just like shown in the Fig.2

Step 3:

  • Fold the top right and left corners to the center crease

Step 4:

  • Fold the one half to the other half in the back direction. This is called Mountain fold.

Step 5:

  • Fold your locky plane’s nose approximately one – quarter of the vertical edge.
  • I’ve showed you the dot which 1/4th of the vertical edge

Step 6:

  • Now unfold it back

Step 7:

  • Mountain fold the Plane’s nose inside the neck as shown in Fig.7

Step 8:

  • Tuck the extra triangular section inside.
  • Check the Fig.8 guide lines for folding

Step 9:

  • Fold down the wings along the dotted line.
  • FYI, The dotted lines are little lesser than half of the frontal nose section
  • Do the same for the other side of the wing

Step 10:

  • Lift wings properly like shown in the Fig.10
  • And you know what? You’ve done a wonderful job making this plane.
  • Go throw it in the sky!

Make More! and Fly More!

Locky flying technique:

  • Keep your left foot slightly forward and launch it in 30 – 40 degrees angle, throw it steadily with a medium force. If it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again.
  • Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
