NIGHTCRAWLER

Thrust is Forward energy produced by the airplane wings like, Usain bolt runs by the energy from his legs. Drag is opposite to the Thrust, Drag slows down the Airplanes by reducing the wing’s ability to generate lift. In order to fly, Aircraft needs to produce more lift and thrust to counteract its overall weight and Drag. Learn Nightcrawler Paper airplane to understand the four aerodynamic forces!

Two minutes for Noodles! isn’t it? Three minutes for Paper planes! It’s that simple with liftndrift*

Supplies Required:

  • A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 GSM
  • Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.

Step 1:

  • Keep the A4 sheet of paper over the table in Landscape orientation
  • Fold about 1cm – three times as shown in the Fig.1

Step 2:

  • Fold the paper into half, Bring the lower end to the top and match it symmetrically.

Step 3:

  • Fold-down the Top left-hand sided edge to the centre crease as shown in the Fig.3

Step 4:

  • Do the same fold for the other side also as compared in Fig.3 and Fig.4

Step 5:

  • Fold the nose down to the end of the triangle along the dotted lines as the folding centre.
  • Compare Fig.5 and Fig.6

Step 6:

  • Push the Nose up with a fold of about 2cm as shown in the Fig.6

Step 7:

  • Fold the Plane into half by bringing the lower end to the top end
  • Match them perfectly and check for their symmetry

Step 8:

  • Compare the Fig.7 and Fig.8 of nightcrawler for finishing the fold
  • (Image is showed in isometric view) Actual picture will have proper alignment

Step 9:

  • Fold-down to make the wing as shown in Fig.9 on both sides with dotted lines as the centre

Step 10:

  • Compare Fig.9 and Fig.10 for your reference

Step 11:

  • Lift up the wings to make it look like ‘T’
  • That’s all for this plane to conquer the sky.
  • Try Nighcrawler Paper airplane in Dihedral Shape for a different performance.

Nightcrawler flying technique:

  • Hold the Plane behind the centre of the plane’s gravity centre
  • Keep your left foot slightly forward and launch it in 30 – 40 degrees angle, throw it steadily with a medium force. If it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again.
  • Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
