Glider Flight | Soaring Glide Paperplane

A crushed paper can be thrown to reach a distance. But, why there is a need for making a design or some folds! Because the planes are folded in a certain way to satisfy the aerodynamic laws or basically to minimize the drag which is produced in a Surface. So glider flight are allowed to produce lift and floats to their destination easily! Let’s make Soaring Glide for now!

Two minutes for Noodles! isn’t it? Three minutes for Paper planes! It’s that simple with liftndrift*

Supplies Required:

  • A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 GSM
  • Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.

Step 1:

  • The very first step is easy, You have to just keep the A4 sheet in portrait way and fold it left to right
  • Match the both ends neat and straight

Step 2:

  • Now, the next step is unfolding
  • The Top left corner is A bring it to the center crease and fold it match center line and the left boundary line

Step 3:

  • This step of glider flight is easy peasy. You have to just bring the top right hand edge B to the center just like you did for A

Paper Airplane facts: “Paper planes became popular in the United States during the early 1940’s

Step 4:

  • Fold the corner C over to the center line
  • Make sure in all the above and upcoming steps you are creasing the fold
  • Do the Same for D, You will get Fig.5 Shape

Step 5:

  • This is not a complicated step for your information
  • You have three dotted lines in Fig.5
  • The center dotted line needs to folded first, Once it is in folded condition. You have to now fold the Left and Right dotted lines in the opposite direction.
  • If you look at the bottom of Fig.5 you will see a V like shape that’s how it looks after you fold and look from the rear. Cool!

Make More! and Fly More!

Glider flight flying technique:

  • Hold your plane with thumb and forefinger and give it a quick shot in the space. Before that, Keep your left foot slightly forward and launch it in 30 – 40 degrees angle, throw it steadily with a medium force. If it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again.
  • Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
